This Year's Model Updates:

New exterior cladding has been slapped onto the Laredo, and both models have received interior touch-ups. Two-wheel drive is available with the 4.7-liter V8. Shale Green and Silverstone are the new skin tones.

Pros:
  • Flawless 4.7-liter V8, all-terrain vehicle.
Cons:
  • Gear whine, brakes feel slow to respond.

  • Awesome Jeep - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I have a 2000 with only 48K on it. The nice 4.7L V8 definitely packs a punch. Towing my motorcycle trailer is no problem and at times you wouldnt even know you are towing anything. Sporty design, awesome leather interior for those long drives to bike week. The V8 gets about 16-17 MPG as I dont drive that far to work. This is an awesome Jeep and they just keep on getting better.

  • Brake Issues - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Brakes are an issue. The rotors on mine went @ 12k miles, as well as a buddy in the office. They covered them the first time, but told me the next time I eat it at $1,200.00. This is an obvious recall issue with Jeeps and they need to be responsible enough to take on the repairs. If not, there are plenty of other companies selling SUVs without guaranteed repair issues.

  • Good for me.. - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Other than the fact that changing out the rear two spark plugs on the engine is a bit of a nightmare...and that a differential case gasket began to leak...the Grand Cherokee has been flawless. Very stable on rainy, wet streets, good to excellent acceleration and plenty of room for 5. Interior has held up very well...no problems there. All power options continue to work without problem. Fit and finish good for an SUV. Overall...one of the best Jeeps I have owned and driven (of 5 so far).

  • DISASTER! - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I have had tremendous problems with this car. The rotors are terrible. I have had them turned 5 times in two years. I will soon need to totally replace them. There are countless other problems that I have had with this vehicle. Worst craftmenship I have ever seen in a vehicle. I have had two Jeeps prior to this one that did not have problems. I would have bought another after this but will never again buy a Jeep considering the hosing I got on this dud! These need to be recalled (at least for the brakes)

  • Disapointed - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This is pertaining to the limited model with the quadra trac II. Was not a fan of the "all time 4wd". Controlled 4wd seems like it was designed for people who do not know how to use 4wd and need it controlled for them. Brakes were always worn and I was very easy on them. Electronics always seemed to have a problem. The gas line, leak detector, water pump, EVERY seal and gasket, radiator, and lock actuators all went under 75,000 miles. It seemed to have a new leak every month. Parts are extremely expensive. Unknown high pitched wine coming from the front axel. I sold it before I found out what that was. Paint chipped as well.

  • Jeep Junk - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Its hard to know where to start, ok, the good, great looks. there done. The bad, everything, always in the shop, from drive line to electrical, heating and a/c to braking to cooling to, well everything. Paint peeling to add to it. worst vehicle i have ever owned, do not purchase this Jeep and year or any other, save yourself the pain and hassle, oh and money. Dealership can never fix it, wish someone would steal it so I would never see it in the drive way again.

  • Grand Cherokee is good every day driver. - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I am returning my leased 2000 Grand Cherokee after 3 years/35k miles. Was skeptical at first re quality, but had no issues except broken power lock motor. Car has been a great every day driver and towed my 1000lb wave runner trailer with no probems. Overall I felt I got a great value for small monthly payment. Gas mileage was around 2o miles/gallon and insurance cost were lower than most other cars I had. Test drove a few other sporte utes this week, but decided to get another Jeep. While not a spectacular head turner, I like overall solid performance vs. cost.

  • 73K Miles and Loving It - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Our Jeep just turned 73,000 miles. Weve managed to put it through some real extremes during the mileage run. Towing in 100+ degree Texas heat, -30 cold in the Colorado high country, off roading to groceries, it has performed flawlessly. The only money spent has been for brake rotors, pads and normal maintenance. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone.

  • STAY AWAY FROM JEEPS! - 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Oh, where to start! Ive had this POS for 4 months and have had it to the dealership 6 times! Brake rotors warp, Steering column clicks, sunroof when opened makes a rattling sound, the Jeep pulls to the right, big time! The dealer tells me this is normal and that its the "crown on the road", WHATEVER! This vehical is the WORST vehical Ive ever owned. Not only will I never buy a Jeep, Ill never buy a Chrysler after being dicked around by the dealership so much, they were very painful to deal with!
